Tour Options at the Louvre
The Louvre offers several ways to explore its vast collection with expert guidance:
Official Louvre guided tours are led by museum lecturers and cover specific themes or highlights. These tours last approximately 1.5 hours and are available in French and English. They can be booked directly at the museum or online through the Louvre's official website.
Audio guides are available in several languages (French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese). The multimedia guide uses a Nintendo 3DS console and covers over 700 works with commentary, images, and videos. It can be rented at the audio guide desk under the Pyramid.
Private guided tours are offered by licensed tour operators and provide a personalised experience. A private guide can tailor the visit to your interests, whether that's Renaissance art, Egyptian antiquities, or the French Crown Jewels. Group sizes are typically limited to keep the experience intimate.
Group tours for organised groups are also available. Groups of more than 6 people must use whisper systems (headsets) to avoid disturbing other visitors.
