Photography

Photography is allowed in the permanent collections without flash, tripods, or selfie sticks. Some temporary exhibitions may prohibit photography entirely. Video recording is not permitted.

Bags & Luggage

Bags must not exceed 55 x 35 x 20 cm. Larger bags, suitcases, and bulky items must be left at the free cloakroom located under the Pyramid. Backpacks must be carried in front of you.

Prohibited Items

Food and drinks are not allowed in the gallery spaces. Large umbrellas must be left at the cloakroom. Animals are not permitted except for guide dogs. Smoking and e-cigarettes are prohibited throughout the museum.

Behaviour

Do not touch the artworks or lean on display cases. Running is not permitted. Keep noise to a minimum. Mobile phones must be on silent. Groups of more than 6 must use whisper systems.

Can I take photos of the Mona Lisa?
Yes, you can photograph the Mona Lisa and all other works in the permanent collection. However, you must not use flash, tripods, or selfie sticks. The room is often very crowded, so be considerate of other visitors when taking pictures.
Is there a coat check or cloakroom?
Yes, the Louvre has a free cloakroom (vestiaire) located under the Pyramid in the main hall. You can leave coats, large bags, umbrellas, and other bulky items. The cloakroom does not accept valuables. It closes 30 minutes after the museum.
Are strollers allowed in the museum?
Yes, strollers are allowed throughout the museum. Baby carriers are also welcome. The museum has elevators for accessibility. Free stroller loans are available at the information desk subject to availability.
Can I bring a water bottle?
Yes, you can bring a sealed water bottle in your bag, but you may not drink in the gallery rooms. There are designated areas, cafés, and rest areas where you can eat and drink. Water fountains are available in the public spaces.
